NEW YORK, NY – July 1, 2019 – BET Networks announces its new docu-crime series MURDER IN THE THIRST. This riveting 10-episode series reveals the desperate thirsts that drive people to kill. Hosted by entertainer, businesswoman, and actress LisaRaye McCoy, the series peeks into the world of money, mansions, and power… and the people who would do anything to get there. Each suspenseful MURDER IN THE THIRST brings these twisted tales to life, recreating an extravagant world of luxury and lies, and featuring revealing interviews with the people who lived through each story. From the desperate tale of former NFL player Rae Carruth to the "Pit bill in Prada," a hot shot attorney who was stabbed to death in her Louisiana law office, the series will have viewers puzzling over every twist and turn. “Murder In The Thirst” Premieres, Sunday, July 7 at 9 PM ET/PT on BET.

MEET THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS:
Joseph Freed and Allison Berkley (Executive Producers):
Freed and Berkley are the Executive Producers of A&E’s documentary anthology Autobiography, and Lifetime’s scripted movie, I Am Elizabeth Smart, which was nominated for two Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Movie Made For Television. Their documentary Warren Jeffs: Prophet of Evil debuted on A&E in 2018.
They are the Executive Producers of AMC’s Visionaries: Eli Roth’s History of Horror, which premiered in the fall of 2018, and launched the weekly pop-culture series Bossip on WEtv. Freed is the co-creator and Executive Producer of Little People, Big World, currently in production for its 13th season on TLC.
Freed and Berkley co-created and produced Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, a reality competition series co-produced by the Jim Henson Company for Syfy. They first worked together on CBS Television’s syndicated talk show Rachael Ray, producing more than 1,000 episodes. Rachael Ray brought them both Daytime Emmy nominations, with Freed winning back-to-back Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show in 2008 and 2009
MEET THE SHOWRUNNER:
Francis Gasparini has over 20 years of experience in documentary film and television. He has worked with documentarians including Michael Moore, RJ Cutler, Davis Guggenheim, and Ryan White.
Gasparini’s films have premiered at Sundance and SXSW. Documentary television credits include “TV Nation” (Fox), “The Awful Truth” (IFC), “The Residents” (TLC), and “Shirts and Skins” (Logo). As a showrunner, he produced “Welcome to Fairfax” (Pivot) and “Babies Behind Bars” (A&E), and most recently produced “The Devil Next Door” (A&E).
He has been nominated for three Emmys for Outstanding Informational Series (TV Nation, Fox), Outstanding Non-Fiction Series (The Awful Truth With Michael Moore, BRV), and Outstanding Nonfiction Program – Alternative (The Osbournes, MTV).
MEET THE HOST:
Entertainer, model, businesswoman, philanthropist and former First Lady are all terms that describe stunning actress LisaRaye McCoy. She was the first African-American actress to be the First Lady of a nation, and only the second actress in history to hold the position. The first was the legendary Grace Kelly of Monaco, and now Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. She’s starred in 4 seasons of the breakout hit VH1 series, “ Single Ladies,” produced by Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment.
Prior to “Single Ladies,” she starred in and served as executive producer of her own hit reality show “LisaRaye: The Real McCoy,” which premiered on TV One and attracted record ratings for the cable network. LisaRaye initially captured Hollywood’s attention through her breakout performance as “Diamond” in Ice Cube’s directorial debut film, “The Players Club,” co-starring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. LisaRaye’s directorial debut film “Skinned” has received many accolades including AAMA (African American Movie Award), Africa’s “Oscar,” and the Best Film award in Kenya’s Film Festival.
