NEW YORK, NY, May 5, 2021 — BET partners again with INROADS, Inc., the esteemed organization committed to improving the diversity talent pipeline and creating pathways to careers, for the annual benefit gala. On Thursday, May 5 at 7 PM ET, the INROADS Hybrid Benefit Gala, presented by Procter and Gamble (P&G) and powered by BET, will recognize and celebrate esteemed INROADS alumni and corporate, community, and civic leaders who have epitomized the legacy of the mission and are making great strides within their community and across the nation.

The INROADS Hybrid Benefit Gala will present several awards to visionaries, pioneers, and INROADS alumni whose work and impact reflect the INROADS mission. The 2022 honorees include the Excellence in Leadership Awardee: Scott Mills, CEO of BET; Entrepreneur of the Year Awardee: Dia Simms, CEO of Lobos 1707 Tequila & Mezcal and Co-Founder of Pronghorn; Alumna of the Year Awardee: Martin Cabrera, Founder and CEO of Cabrera Capital Partners, LLC, and Cabrera Capital Markets, LLC; Lifetime Achievement Awardee: Congressman James E. The evening will be hosted by the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, anchor, Washington Post columnist, and host of The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC, Jonathan Capehart.

"Since our founding in 1970, INROADS has become synonymous with bold and envisioned leadership as we work to move the nation towards equity. Our Benefit Gala has become a tradition where we honor and celebrate the leaders and companies who are forging change. Each of our honorees share a unique quality with our founder — Frank Carr;  and a commitment to complete social justice and equity. We are honored to continue the work he pioneered through our honorees," said Forest Harper, Jr., President and CEO, INROADS, Inc.

The INROADS Benefit Gala proceeds will directly support 6,000 underrepresented, diligent high school and college students to receive leadership training, coaching, and mentoring to accelerate their careers and position them to create generational wealth. INROADS’ legacy of investing in diverse professionals harnesses the power of diversity, equity, and inclusion to improve the workforce and vitality of business.

“Across its over 50-year legacy, INROADS has accelerated the professional paths of incredibly talented, underrepresented youth; therefore, it is a perfect partner to BET and our commitment to amplify and empower diverse communities," said Scott Mills, CEO of BET and 2022 INROADS Excellence in Leadership Awardee. "INROADS alumni are very well represented among BET's executive ranks, reflecting INROADS’ expertise in creating and recognizing leaders, so I am especially humbled and honored to receive the Excellence in Leadership Award from INROADS. BET's second year partnering with INROADS marks the beginning of what we hope to be a long-term engagement that empowers our communities through career development.”
