NEW YORK, NY Tuesday, October 15, 2019BET Networks, (a subsidiary of Viacom Inc., NASDAQ: VIA, VIAB), the nation's leading provider of quality content for African-American audiences, announced today that P. Sean Gupta has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Operations. Gupta will lead network-wide strategy, business development and expansion initiatives, reporting to BET Networks president Scott Mills.

In his new position, Gupta will continue to oversee the strategic development and planning that supports BET’s growth and strengthens its portfolio, working cross-functionally to conceive of, identify, and assess short- and long-term opportunities. He will also continue to liaise with other corporate groups as BET’s representative in the Viacom portfolio.

Most recently, Gupta played an integral role as the co-lead of the executive team that conceived of, planned and launched the BET+ premium Streaming service and a member of the deal team that negotiated and structured the joint venture with Tyler Perry Studios.  As a BET+ board member, Gupta will leverage his leadership and counsel to guide governance and continued growth efforts.

With nearly two decades of media industry experience, Gupta joined BET’s Program Planning, Scheduling & Acquisitions team in 2015, where he led initiatives focused on driving BET Networks’ overall programming and viewership goals. Before BET, Gupta held numerous executive positions, previously leading business development and business affairs for the Advertising Division of Time Warner Cable and working as an investment banker at Deutsche Bank as a Vice President in The Media & Telecom Investment Banking Group. He began his career before business school at Bloomberg and NBC.
